International Women's Day 2018

On March 8th, people across the world celebrated International Women’s Day, a day which recognises and celebrates the economic, social, cultural and political achievements of women.

It is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate the acts of courage and determination of those ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in their communities.

More than ever before, there is a call to action to press forward to progress gender equality and for that reason, this year’s theme is #PressForProgress. While huge strides have been made in tackling gender equality around the world, there is still more to do and challenges to overcome. Indeed, the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global gender Gap Report states that we are still 200 years away from achieving global gender parity, if we fail to take action.

Cathy Owens, Director at Deryn said:

“We all have a responsibility to press for progress and ensure that women and girls have the same opportunities to fulfil their potential, creating a Wales and a world where everyone can aspire and achieve.”

For a bird's eye view.
