Established in 2011, Deryn is a rapidly growing public affairs consultancy bringing together senior level, cross party experience in campaigning, government relations and politics in Wales. We have come together to help organisations and companies in Wales that need to engage with communities across Wales, opinion formers active in civic society and political decision-makers at every level.

Cathy Owens

Cathy Owens previously worked as a Special Adviser at the Welsh Government, and played leading roles in the Carwyn Jones leadership campaign as well as the successful Yes for Wales campaign in the 2011 powers referendum. She has recently worked for Amnesty International and spent five years as a public affairs consultant for a wide range of blue chip public and private sector clients.

Nerys Evans

Nerys Evans served as an Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales between 2007 and 2011, Nerys was Plaid Cymru’s Director of Policy and authored their 2011 Assembly Manifesto. She served on the First Minister Commission on Public Service Governance and Delivery – The Williams Commission, and is a member of Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Wales. In 2011 she was appointed by the Welsh Government to be an Education Commissioner in Blaenau Gwent County Council and then served on the Ministerial performance board in the County.

Rhuanedd Richards

Rhuannedd joins Deryn from Plaid Cymru, where she served as Chief Executive for 5 years. She is former Special Adviser at Welsh Government, serving during the 2007-2011 One Wales coalition where she was responsible for the overall co-ordination of political and policy advice to ministers. She has extensive political, government and policy experience, leading Plaid Cymru’s party organisation and development as well as working as an integral part of the leadership team overseeing political and election strategy. Previously, she enjoyed a distinguished career at BBC Wales as Assistant News Editor, Presenter and Producer.

Huw Roberts

Huw Roberts is Chair of IOD Wales and has a distinguished career in public affairs. He was recently National Director for Wales for Royal Mail, and previously, Head of Marketing for BBC Wales. He has worked at the Department of Energy and No 10, and was Head of Press at ITN and Director of Corporate Affairs at SWALEC. He was also Senior Special Adviser in the UK Government.

Elin Cadifor

Elin Cadifor worked at BBC Wales for 20 years across the News and Current Affairs spectrum. A highly experienced producer, she worked on the broadest range of news, election and political programming and produced programmes such as Newyddion, Maniffesto and the Politics Show. Elin is highly organised and excels at planning and event management, whilst having a thorough understanding of the political processes in Cardiff Bay.

Sara Jones

Sara Jones was the Head of Wales for public affairs consultancy Grayling from 2010 until 2014 and before then held previous roles in British Waterways and the Environment Agency, and was elected onto Monmouthshire County Council in May 2012 and serves as the Chair of the Economy and Development Committee at the Council.

Vicki Evans

Vicki Evans joined Deryn in 2015 as an Account Manager following twelve years in the Welsh political arena, working for politicians in Cardiff Bay and Westminster and on Assembly and General Election campaigns. Vicki has in depth knowledge of the policy-making process, and proven experience of delivering communications, campaigning and event planning.

Elin Llŷr

Elin Llŷr joins the team, following over 6 years working with Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas and Helen Mary Jones on political campaigning and communications. She will be bringing her experience in event organising, marketing and client relations to the growing Deryn team.

 Stephen Brooks

Stephen Brooks joined the Electoral Reform Society as the Wales Director in April 2011 after 2 years as Head of the Sustainable Development Commission Wales. With a background in policy and campaigning, he has previously been Head of Oxfam Cymru/Wales, a director of Fair Trade Wales & chair of NGO coalition Stop Climate Chaos.

Chris Elmore

Mae Chris Elmore yn ymuno fel Rheolwr Cyfrif, yn dilyn nifer o flynyddoedd o brofiad o weithio i wleidyddion yn San Steffan a Bae Caerdydd. Mae Chris hefyd yn cynhrychioli Ward Castleland ar Gyngor Bro Morgannwg, yn Aelod Cabinet dros Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol ac Ysgolion ac yn aelod o Fwrdd Iechyd Caerdydd a’r Fro.

Elin Llŷr

Mae Elin Llŷr yn ymuno â’r tim yn dilyn dros 6 mlynedd o weithio gyda’r Arglwydd Dafydd Elis-Thomas a Helen Mary Jones – gan ganolbwyntio ar ymgyrchu gwleidyddol a chyfathrebu. Bydd Elin yn dod a’i phrofiad o drefnu digwyddiadau, marchnata a pherthynas cleientiaid gyda hi i dim Deryn.
